Dental x-rays are required to check dental decay, abscess, cysts, bone levels, existing restorations and any other pathology which is not visible during examination only. It also helps to check tooth and root position in relation to other structures.
Dental x-rays involve very low dose of radiation especially since now-a-days we use digital radiographs. If x-rays are needed during pregnancy they can be safely done to diagnose the problem. A lead-apron can be used if needed.
